Does anyone have a good scan of Hatcher 1901: plate VI?

October 3, 2015

Folks,

For a forthcoming minor paper, I need a good-quality scan of Hatcher’s 1901 monograph on Diplodocus carnegii — specifically, plate VI, the photographs of the cervicals in posterior view.

Here is the best scan I have of it:

If anyone has something better, please leave a comment or email me on dino@miketaylor.org.uk

Thanks!

  1. Kenneth Carpenter Says:

    Mike,
Having seen all the original plates that were used for the published versions, what you have for this particular plate is pretty good. The original is the same size as the published plate, with the individual bones printed onto the same photographic sheet. White paint then was used to highlight the bones (lighter areas). This “raw” plate was then re-photographed and published.

Interesting stuff, Ken, thanks for that. OK, so if this is about as good as it gets, I’ll just what I have. (There’s little chance of getting new photos of the individual cervicals in posterior view!)
