It’s all just too awful

March 13, 2017

It’s been pretty quiet around here, huh?

Why?

It’s all just too awful to write about sauropod vertebrae at the moment.

Trump. Brexit. Perverse incentives in academia. I can’t even get up enough enthusiasm to do the revisions for my own accepted-with-revisions manuscripts, let along write blog-posts.

Oh, western civilisation. And you were doing so well.

Believe me… I can fully understand you.

    Seriously.
(And you forgot Syria, Russia and Turkey.)

  3. Hang in there, Mike. I know how you feel. My life has been pretty unpleasant in the last few months too; sometimes I don’t have the energy to do work. Hopefully you can get your spirits up. I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on sauropodomorph vertebrae and open access publishing.

Thanks, Jason, I appreciate that. The irony here is that my life is great at the moment: I am enjoying my day-job enormously, my eldest son is off at university having a great time, and I own more walnut whips than at any other time in my life. It’s just the world at large that’s falling apart.

  5. My apologies for misunderstanding! And happy belated birthday, Mike!

  6. Mike Taylor Says:

    No problem, Jason!

But the world at large is so much more depressing when I see that none of my paleo-bloggers have updated recently! Even if all you did from now on was post a single picture every so often with the caption “guess that vertebrae”, that would still brighten my day. And I think it might brighten yours to see us have at it. :)

  8. Mike Taylor Says:

Sorry, Andrew — you are right, of course, that when things happen to fall such that we don’t have anything to write for a while, we should post a sauropod vertebra picture.

I understand how you feel. It seems like everyday I’m getting alerts from the Sierra Club, SPLC, etc regarding a terrible thing that just happened while I wasn’t looking. It’s darn scary.
